I have a new phone and have keep my old one that I used GPS essentials on .  The old phone has a number of streams that I want to show on my new phone but I cannot get them to synchronize.  When I go to 'account', It has a certificate fingerprint, my email address and validity period.  Validity status is undefined and quota is 'never synchronized'. When I press the sync icon (2 circular arrows at top right) it gives me a notification:  "Server request Failed Unexpected error: The API call mail.Send() required more quota than is available."  If it makes any difference, in my old phone, the quota is using 9.6MB out of 105MB quota.  In a previous post by Micheal, he mentioned "must have backups enabled on Android"  Please elaborate on what is meant by that if that is my problem.

Thanks for the help.

You can also copy the database(gpse.db) to your new phone.
Rename the file(gpse.db) to something else on your new phone if you want to keep it and then replace it with the copy from your old phone, This works for me.

I've never tried/used the "Auto Synchronize" option in settings.

When I switched samsung android phones I used smart switch which seemed to transfer most everything over. Do you use the Tracks function on GPS essentials? I've got a bug and I don't understand how to make it work correctly.

Yes, I used Smart Switch but it did not transfer my data just the app.  The only thing I use GPS Essentials is for tracking.  The only problem I have is many times the track starts from some previous location, far away from the start.  That messes up the speed and distance calcs but I have been able to get around it to some extent.  To solve my issue, I have copied the gpse.db file over to my new phone as suggested by HTH and even copied over the cache file to no avail (I noticed that when I export a track, it seems the path is through the cache file but I really couldn't follow the path using a file manager).

Let me know if I can help with your track problem.

Hi Doug,
Glad you could solve your problem.
GPS Essentials Tracking used to work just fine. It was awesome. Now, like you, mine sometimes starts miles away from my current position even after I start and stop new tracks hoping it picks up the proper start point. MAybe if I can find one of the older versions I could revert back to one that works.

How do you overcome the false start point of the tracking function?

Thanks
Dave

I haven't solved my problem of transferring my tracks to my new phone - I'm at a loss of ideas.

To get rid of the false start points, after the track is stopped, click on 'All Tracks' on Streams page, then the track in question.  Click on the trail name at the top and at least two entries appear - click on the one that says 'Tracking Android'.  Then scroll down the page until you get to the individual data points.  I forget now which points are shown first, the start or the end.  But then just start deleting them by long press to select and delete until the bad data is gone.  I takes some guessing but sometimes you can tell which are bad especially if the initial bad data is while going high speed in a car.  Unfortunately, deleting the data points doesn't seem to effect the summary of the trip - ave speed, top speed, etc.

Hope that helps

Doug
