i have ben using GPS Essentials to mark locations near the house.  I can export the waypoint file without a problem.  I then try to combine waypoints from different years and import the file again.
Device Android S10
GPS Essentials version 4.5.6

I edit the file to remove names and descriptions, save it as a .kml, and put it on my Google drive

I import using waypoints > mighty plus > IMPORT > CLOUD > navigate to My Drive.
The import succeeds and the Placemark points appear on the map.

However: The import seems to ignore the timestamp of the placemarks
<TimeStamp><when>2021-05-06T16:52:53.190Z</when></TimeStamp>
instead it uses the time of the download.

Also, it ignores the styleULR

I define a style as:
<Style id="style_2021"><IconStyle><scale>0.6</scale><Icon>         <href>http://www.mapfinity.com/static/icons/pin_yellow.png</href></Icon>              <hotSpot x="0.5" y="0.0" xUnits="fraction" yUnits="pixels"/></IconStyle></Style>

and I refer to it as
<styleUrl>#style_2021</styleUrl>

I can send a copy of the kml if needed

Thanks,  Jheroen

Hi Jheroen,

Please send me the KML file (in a PM if you don't want to share it with the world), then I'll take a look.

I sent the .kml file to Michael.  In the meantime I did some experimentation, such as adding  an (empty) <name> and <description> to each placemark.  When I export the imported waypoints, I see that the import process generates a new <Style> for each imported placemark and sets the <TimeStamp> to the time of the import.
The import process does read the <TimeStamp> that is imported and does a formatting check on it.  If the date-time format is not as expected it throws an error.

I didn't get any file, please send it to mic...@mictale.com <mailto:mic...@mictale.com>

Just for clarification: What or who created the KML files in the first place?

Sorry to hear that you did not receive the file.  Thanks for letting me know. I am sending it now.

The files were created starting from GPS Essential exports.
I am also sending a short file with just two placemarks.  I created it with GPS Essentials, exported it and then imported it again.  It has the same behavior (TimeStamp is download time and default icon)
