I just stumbled across this:

http://antirez.com/post/scripting-branch-released.html

It talks about Lua scripting for Redis.

Could GPSEE be embedded as well? What is the difference in how Lua needs
to be embedded vs GPSEE? Could we arrive at a common interface so GPSEE
could be used instead of Lua in many places?

JS support for Redis via GPSEE could bring a lot of exposure to
server-side JS.

Intriguing question -- I really don't know anything about redis and next to nothing about Lua -- but I honestly see no reason why this couldn't be done with GPSEE almost as easily as with Lua.  (Almost caveat because Lua has a better embedding than SpiderMonkey IMO).

If anybody out there in net.land is willing to try to marry the two, I'd be more than happy to hold your hand. :)

An even more intriguing comment.  I bet it would be possible to implement a shim to get GPSEE and Lua embedding a lot closer in API.   Most of the work [for me] would probably be learning the Lua API well enough to decide how to implement it.
