Hey guys,

Thanks for all your write backs regarding my question about how you
feel God is to you. From your responses and some other "interviews", I
was able to better understand the struggles of today's young adults,
and I empathized with many of the pains and hurts of the Americans.
And number one struggle for people in America was that lives are too
hectic -- and they seek for a God who can provide them with peace and
comfort. Maybe some of you would like to comment on that -- especially
those of you in college going through final wrap-ups for the year.

Below is an article that was sent to Ann Landers (kind of like Dear
Abby), from a college grad. I personally related with the points
addressed here, and with the current economy, I wonder if any of you
empathize with this more. (and some of you being ready to graduate
college or has recently got out of college).

May I ask those of you that are college and above members to respond to this?

Try to think in terms of -- how does this letter make you feel? Do you
associate with any particular part of this letter? How do you relate
to this letter? How does your and the future of our generation look in
your opinion?
I'm interested in how you guys would respond. Again, I encourage you
to use "reply-to-all," but if you feel your responses are personal,
you can write to me directly.

(Those of your finishing up this semester -- stay strong!!! Maybe we
should have like a BBQ over my Pal Park place after you guys are all
done ~ have like a Wii night or something).

Dear Ann Landers:

I am a 23 year old college graduate (business major). I don’t presume
to speak for my generation, but I know what I feel.

People wonder about us. They say we are materialistic, just out for
ourselves. They say we are apathetic. It must go deeper than that.
Teens are committing suicide in record numbers. What is wrong with us?
Just look around.

The media reach far and wide, bringing stories from all over the
world. We have overpopulation, the environment is being destroyed, our
natural resources are dwindling. People are oppressed, starving and
killing each other. There are enough weapons to blow up the world we
live in 40 times! AIDS continues to spread and there is no vaccine and
no cure.

On the home front, the United States is faltering. The national debt
is at an incomprehensible level. Homeless people freeze to death on
the streets. Gang-violence, alcoholism and drug abuse are rampant.
Teens are having babies out of wedlock and many will never get off
welfare.

Not many people my age will be able to own a house, no matter what
their educational level or whom they work for. Takeovers and mergers
ruin the hopes of job security. Many of us expect to have a lower
standard of living than our parents. The U.S. is losing its edge in
the world market.

It sounds hopeless. But I love this country, and I think there is
hope. I don’t believe my generation is apathetic. We just don’t know
where to start.
