Couple of bugs and a dense question

I bought this software yesterday and used it whilst out for a walk -
very impressed! I did notice a couple of possible bugs though:
- It doesn't remember the grid ref settting - if I set it to 6, when
I reload it, it goes back to 10.
- The altitude seems a long way off, although I realise this could be
a function of the GPS itself. The map showed my current position
between the 190 and 200m contours but the gps showed 260m asl -
sometimes less, sometimes more.
- If I panned away from the current position, it jumped back to my
position before I had finished looking at what I was looking at.

A nice to have would be to use the pinch zoom on the map :-)

Now the dense question which I suspect is obvious... Ideally, I want
to use the OS maps without a network connection. It seems MOBAC was
the way to do this, but the UK OS Maps aren't in the source list. How
would I get them into the source list - do I have to buy them from,
say, Anquet?

Also, is there any way to create routes on the PC (i.e. screen with
more resolution) and download then onto your software - I suspect this
is the gpx format is?

Many Thanks for your help

Dan.

Hi Dan,

I will put the remember grid ref setting on the release.
The GPS on the phone doesn't give a good altitude information and it's always way off.
To pad around on the map; you will need to disable to lock by pressing on the button above the offline maps.
There is a double tap to zoom feature but I will look into pinch to zoom.
To download the offline maps; you need to pick the Multimap UK OS map from the options.
The app support gpx import so you can use any softwares to create a gpx file or download off a website and transfer on to the phone then use a file manager program to open a gpx file and there will be GPS Grid Reference option appear for importing.

Please let me know if you need any more help.

Forgot to answer the question regarding the gps accuracy. What was the SNR and accuracy showing on the screen?

Thanks for the reply.

MOBAC have removed Multimap (along with most other sources) from their
latest release so I only have the OpenStreetMaps and no OS maps which
is a real pain :-( Do you know if there's an earlier version I can get
hold of with it still in? I've tried googling how to get OS maps into
MOBAC but haven't found anything.

With the gps accuracy, at times the SNR was above 100 (ranged from 75
to 135 I think) from 7 satellites and the placement of the red arrow
(until it updated when I was standing still and it go worse) was very
good. The accuracy was generally 20 to 30 metres so it's a wonder the
red arrow was so correct most of the time. Either way, it's far better
than the Garmin Etrex I had once that was consistently 100m off on the
northing, even after selective availability was turned off...

Thanks for the link - it worked and I now have the OS maps.

I have an HTC Desire HD phone.

With the accuracy, the line says something like "Accuracy: 20m using 0
satellites" The line always says 0 satellites even though at the top
of the screen, it says "SNR: 140 using 8 satellites", for example.
