Hello all, I am very happy to report that the low cost GPIB interface that connects via USB can be used to not only control LeCroy scopes but can also be used to update the firmware for 93XX/LC/LT/WR1/WR2/WP scopes that normally would require update via a PCMCIA card. Note that there may be a initial version limitation for this to work (I believe > 6.4, but I need to confirm this). I plan to update the firmware document to reflect this new information when I have time but in brief this is how it is done. Purchase the device from Beiming Technologies at: http://bmjd.biz/ I used the more expensive "F" version but the standard "S" may work but since I do not have that one I can not confirm that it will work. Install all of the supplied software on the CD that comes with the device. Launch the Agilent software and under "Tools" select "Agilent488" and then check the checkbox "Enable Agilent GPIB Cards for 488 programs" Launch the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer Under Tools>NI VISA 4.6.2>Passports check the box for NiVisaTulip.dll Connect the device to your scope. Restart your computer and then Launch LeCroy ScopeExplorer. Use the find scope button. Your scope should show up. Under the Scope button select the option to update the firmware from a CD (File) or the internet. If you are connected to the internet you can update the firmware that way, otherwise you will need a fla file. Choose the method that suits your taste and follow the prompts to update the firmware. All for now, got the dinner call, Sam Moderator Another point they mentioned is: When updating the firmware with ScopeExplorer the update process may seem to the user to have hung. Please be patient as it will take several seconds for the erasing blocks to appear on the scope screen, after which the programming blocks sequence will start. Sam Moderator |
