Into the Wild follows the relationship between Paul and Pam, a happily married couple living in a small California town. When Pam falls ill and is hospitalized, Paul devotes his time to helping her and taking care of their young daughter. He returns to the Wild West only to find that the Wild West has changed. In the opening pages, we learn that Pam had once fallen in love with a rooster but that love has disappeared. In order to correct this problem, she assigns her son, Jon, to travel with her to the Wild West and document what happens while they are there.

It is a book that anyone would enjoy reading. The story has humor and a touch of adventure combined in a way that is both appealing and endearing. At times the book can be a little heavy going especially if you have not read much about the Wild West or the South American continent. Nevertheless, once you have started reading the book, you will discover that Jon Krakau has captured all of the appeal of this exciting region. You will feel like you have been transported to the Wild West for an epic western tale.
