If there are "good" police they are few, far and in between. In fact
they are very few. When new recruits come to the job with the
intention of doing a good job they are matched up with the veteran
cops. It probably takes about 18 months to two years to turn into a
corrupt policeman or police woman. (but you don't turn
corrupt..you're already corrupt)
There are few people who join the force because they want to "fight
crime" or engage in "law enforcement". It's all about the
"Benjamins". Corrupt police know what I am referring to. Good police
know to, because it's their job to know. Cops turn corrupt for many
reasons: power, politics, and to boost a low self esteem.
Let's face it cops don't feel that great about themselves. If they
did, they would not have to force others to degrade themselves to get
along with them. If you live under negative influence from a cop day
in and day out you can easily become a Jeremiah Sweeney, or me, for
that matter. The fact is that the negative pressure is real and it
comes from cops with low self esteem. It comes from cops, who, just
like anybody else, choose to not do any better themselves and they
don't want anybody else to do better -- unless they are a prostitute,
then they can trick you into giving them sex, or a drug dealer and
they make you pay to play. Up the command chain they are telling
these lower level cops to make a bust, set up, trick, put the pressure
on, watch them day and night, do what you gotta do--to make a bust.
