Infection Prevention eNews Letter: In response to International Infection Prevention Week Oct 13-19, 2019! The theme for IIPW is "Vaccines are everyone's business". It occurs to me when reflecting on the 20th anniversary for National Handwashing Awareness Week Dec 1-7, 2019 that we in Infection Prevention, Public Health and healthcare have not demonstrated enough respect for our respiratory membranes role in infections. Remember these membranes are the ONLY portal of entry into the human body for ALL respiratory infections (and GI infections)! So demonstrate respect for your respiratory membranes (eyes, nose and mouth) by NOT touching your T Zone! There are MANY more viruses that do not have vaccine protection. If your Public Health Dept, hospital, school, business or community need some catalyst to get started, this is your great opportunity! Let's  "Spread the word not the germs"!
