The Virginia Employment Commission is notifying customers that all COVID-19 related federal unemployment programs, as originally authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act of 2020, and extended through the Continued Assistance Act (CAA) of 2020 and American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021, will end on September 4, 2021. The following federal unemployment programs are affected:

    Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC),
    Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA),
    Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC),
    Mixed Earner Unemployment Compensation (MEUC).

The VEC will process and pay benefits to eligible claimants through the week ending September 4, 2021. No additional benefits can be paid under these programs, beyond this date even if you have a balance remaining. The VEC will continue to monitor any federal legislation that might impact this situation. If the September 4, 2021 program expiration date is changed, we will notify you and provide any appropriate instructions. For additional information, please see the Press Release issued by the Virginia Employment Commission at https://www.vec.virginia.gov/node/13421
