Incumbent must operate a government vehicle. A valid state driver's license
is required.

You must be a citizen of the United States to be considered for this
vacancy. This is a temporary appointment not-to-exceed 120 days. The
length of this appointment may be shortened or extended, depending on work
availability and funding. This position is located at Santa Monica
Mountains National Recreation Area, Maintenance Complex in Calabasas, a
suburban community approximately 30 miles west of Los Angeles. Government
housing is not available, but a wide variety of rental units area available
within commuting distance, easily accessible by freeways. Housing and
other living costs area considered high, in relation to other sections of
the country. Public transportation is limited; however, van pools are
available in most communities serving the area. All metropolitan area
amenities area also available. The climate is typical of southern CA with
summer highs occasionally reaching 90 degrees. Additional positions may be
hired from this announcement, pending the availability of funding. SALARY:
$11.98 per hour. To ensure you receive the proper consideration please

qualifications for this position.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Prepares interior and exterior surfaces of government buildings for
painting. Assists other maintenance workers with minor carpentry jobs.
Operates gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles up to 10,000 gross vehicle
weight (GVW), including pick-up trucks and small loader tractors with
attachments. Operates heavy industrial-type machinery, including
chainsaws, generators, power augers, power sprayers, etc. Must be able to
lift and carry 90-100 pounds, in the form of materials, supplies and
equipment.
KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS (KASOCS):
1. Ability to do the work of a maintenance worker without more than normal
supervision; 2) Knowledge of technical work practices in the areas of
carpentry, painting; 3) Ability to interpret instructions, specifications
etc.; 4) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment related to
carpentry and painting, and 5) Ability to operate motor vehicles and heavy
equipment
