Incumbent of this position will be required to wear a uniform.
This position has no known promotion potential.
Incumbent must operate a government vehicle. A valid state driver's license
is required.

Department of the Interior (DOI) Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)
procedures apply in filling this vacancy. 5 CFR 330, Career Transition
Assistance for Surplus and Displaced Federal Employees requires the
following order of selection for this position:
a) At Bureau option, personnel actions listed in 5 CFR 330.606(b);
b) Any well-qualified SSP candidate who applies within the local commuting
area (Surplus and displaced employees will be given equal consideration);
c) At Bureau option, personnel actions not subject to RPL;

is $14.02 - $16.35. There is no government housing available; however,
housing is available to rent or purchase in the local area. Klamath is a
small community approximately 20 miles south of Crescent City on the
Pacific Ocean. Weather is mild year round with heavy rainfall during the
winter months. Crescent City is a full service community with adequate
shopping, doctors, a hospital, grade school through high school and a two
year community college. BASIS OF RATING: There is no written test
required. Qualified candidates will be rated on a scale of 70-100 based on
the nature, quality and extent of their experience and/or education in
relation to the duties and requirements of the position. To receive full
credit for your qualifications, include in your applications and on a
separate sheet of paper, if necessary, detailed evidence of experience,
training, education, awards, hobbies, self-development achievements and any
other aspects of your background which relate to how and when they were
used. The experience evidence must include clear, concise examples which

STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
This position is located in the Division of Maintenance, Building &
Utilities Branch of Redwood National and State Parks. Incumbent of this
position performs building maintenance in conjunction with and under the
direct supervision of Journey-level trades workers. The incumbent works on
a wide variety of maintenance projects including cyclic repairs, new
construction and preventive maintenance to park facilities such as
information centers, historic structures, rest rooms, entrance stations,
kiosks, quarters, offices and shops. These repairs include plumbing,
painting and carpentry duties. Also assists the Electronics Mechanic in
the removal and installation of radio equipment consisting of repeaters,
base stations, mobiles, remotes, and all associate hardware. Operates a
variety of single-axle vehicle incidental to the performance of duties.
Services and repairs assigned power tools. Operates and maintains
generators, compressors, power sprayers, table saws, radial arm saws,
planers, joiners, and band saws. Keeps inventory and prepares various
reports and documents as required.
KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS (KASOCS):
1. Ability to perform sub-journey level maintenance skills in carpentry
painting and plumbing. (Screen out).
2. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
3. Knowledge of various materials and their uses.
4. Ability to interpret and apply instructions, plans, specifications and
codes.
