(FISCPS) intends to modify contract N00406-01-P-8630 with Lehigh Safety
Shoe Company on a sole source basis. This contract currently provides for
a contractor-operated mobile protective footwear store at Puget Sound
Naval Shipyard in Bremerton WA during the period 29 August 2001 through
28 February 2002. The sole source modification will increase the
estimated quantity from 250 pairs of footwear to 998 pairs. This quantity
increase is necessary because the original estimated quantity, which was
based on the prior contract's sales data, has become insufficient to
meet the current demand during the contract performance period. A
follow-on procurement is in process via an unrestricted competitive RFQ
that was advertised at FedBizOpps and CBD on 9/5/2001, posted at
www.neco.navy.mil on 9/24/2001, and closed on 10/19/2001. This proposed
contract modification action is for an increase in the estimated quantity
of footwear under an existing contract, which theGovernment intends to
solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302.
