(USPS) will be prequalifying suppliers for a forthcoming production of
Priority & Express Mail board envelopes. The contemplated five-year
base contract with five one-year renewal options is for the manufacturing
of envelopes that meet or exceed USPS requirements. An estimated quantity
of 250 million envelopes may be required each year of the contemplated
contract. This requires a supplier fully capable of producing more than
21 million envelopes per month. Historically the growth has averaged
approximately 15% per year. Supplier storage for more than 35 million
envelopes is also required. Just in time delivery is a critical
requirement. Envelopes are produced on 12-point and 18-point recycled
board. Envelopes require closure tape and tear string. Envelopes are to
be printed by the gravure, offset or flexographic printing process.
Envelopes are two color and manufactured in four sizes 12-1/2 x 9-1/2",
6 x 10", 10-1/8 x 5", and 13 x 9". Requests for this prequalification
package must be in writing and reference "Express & Priority Board
Envelope Prequalification". Anticipated date for issuance of the
prequalification package is April 28 2000. Posted 04/12/00 (W-SN444034).
