SERVICES FOR THE MODIFICATION, REPAIR OF EXISTING OR NEW BOATS, CRAFT OR
170 FOOT PATROL COASTAL CLASS SHIPS OR OTHER ITEMS AS DEFINED. The Naval
Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Detachment Norfolk is
seeking Alteration Installation Team (AIT) support; specifically,
providing materials and services in support of modifications to boats,
craft, or 170 foot Patrol Coastal Class ships, or systems associated with
boats, craft or 170 foot Patrol Coastal Class ships, and other items as
tasked. In addition, the contractor shall furnish material, repair
services, maintenance and general services as related to boats, craft and
170 foot Patrol Coastal Class ships. This effort will require an AIT,
engineering and logistics contractor(s) in the Norfolk, VA, area, and
boatyard contractor(s) in the Norfolk, VA area and the San Diego, CA
area. It is envisioned that the AIT contractor will be the prime
contractor with the other participants being subcontractors in a
"teaming" arrangement. Services required include: (1) Quick Response
Support; (2) Pre-Installation Surveys; (3) Alteration installation; (4)
Prototype installation; (5) Quality control; (6) Logistics Support; (7)
Engineering Support; (8) Marine Services; (9) Craft/equipment/material
purchase/transportation/ stowage; (10) Material support; (11) Test and
evaluation support; (12) Research and Development support; (13) Operation
of Existing or new craft. It is anticipated that this contract will be a
three (3) year, time and materials, indefinite quantity/indefinite
delivery type service contract, with two, one-year options for a total
possible period of performance of five (5) years. The total number of
man-hours anticipated to be expended is approximately 683,280 hours for
the base three year period and 227,760 hours for each option year.
Request for Proposal (RFP) N00167-98-R-0004 will be issued on or about 14
November 1997 and will close approximately 30 days thereafter. The
proposed procurement is a 100percent small business set aside. The
