Test Center (AFFTC) has a requirement for UV Ink-Jet Wire Marking System
Wire/Cable Sizes: .030 to .250 inches. This wire marking machine
includes the following major components/features: (1) wire de-reeler, (2)
PT-1000 plasma wire treatment system, (3) knot and splice detection, (4)
UV ink jet printer [videojet excel Hr, min. character size is .029, ink
color-black or magenta], (5) ultraviolet in-line curing, (6) wire
cutter/coiler, (7) wire stripper [die type blades, one end], (8) host PC
compatible computer with operating software, (9) operation and
maintenance manual, and (10) installation and training. The following are
the specifications: (1) dimensions: 56"H x 60"W x 28"D, (2) weight is
approximately 350 lbs, (3) power requirements: 208 VAC 60 Hz 3j, 30A, (4)
wire lengths: 1" to 9,999". Tri-Star Technologies Model M100J Wire
Marking System, or equal. The simplified acquisition procedure (SAP) will
be used in awarding this contract by written quotation. Companies making
bids should submit a detailed proposal showing the integrated marking
system required to meet the technical specification. The proposal should
show as a minimum the actual marking system to be used, any applicable
pre- and post-mark treatment processes, the dereeling equipment, the
cutting and stripping unit, and the operator interface to the marking
system via PC. It should indicate if any special procedures are needed
for certain insulation types, colors, or wire sizes. Companies making
bids may be requested to mark up to 20 samples of various insulation
types, colors, and wire sizes for evaluation by Edwards AFB, California
of the marked samples to meet the legibility and durability specification
requirements. Marking of these samples for evaluation shall be at no cost
to the Government. Interested sources must submit clear and convincing
