WOMEN OWNED SMALL BUSINESS CONFERENCE AND EXPO AT THE RADDISON HOTEL,
PHILADELPHIA, PA
Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSB) are invited to attend the Women-Owned
Small Business Conference and Expo sponsored by The Southeastern PA
Federal Procurement Agencies and the SBA on 17 March 1999 from 8:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m. at the Radison Hotel, 500 Stevens Drive, Philadelphia, PA
(south of the Philadelphia Airport). For directions to the hotel, call
(610) 521-5900. The Conference and Expo will focus on procurement of four
types of services: Architecture and Engineering, Construction, Facility
Maintenance and Environmental. The agenda will include a light breakfast,
seminars, lunch, presentations and Q and A sessions. The Conference and
Expo is limited to the first 100 people that register. Requirements for
registration are detailed in this announcement. The purpose of the expo
is two fold: (1) Enhance knowledge of women owned companies about the
services purchased by Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Northern
Division, General Services Administration (GSA) and Army Corps of
Engineers. and (2) to promote networking between large businesses and
WOSB. WOSB companies will be able to discuss opportunities for work with
Federal Government Contracting Officers, Project Managers and
representatives from large business seeking subcontractors. Additionally,
organizations that provide support for WOSB such as Procurement Technical
Assistant Centers, State Small Business Development Centers, Women
Business Development Centers, State Associations of Women Business Owners
and the Electronic Commerce Resource Center will be represented. Northern
Division is an Engineering Field Activity under the Navy Facilities
Engineering Command that procures Architecture-Engineer Services,
Construction Services, Facilities Maintenance Services and Environmental
Services. Among the professional services of an Architecture and
Engineering are studies, investigations, surveying, tests, evaluations,
consultations, conceptual designs, plans and specifications and soils
engineering. Construction services include construction, alteration or
repair (including dredging, excavating and painting) of buildings,
structures or other real property. Building structures and real property
include improvements of all types, such as bridges, plants, highways,
parkways, streets, sewers, mains, power lines, pumping stations,
railways, airport facilities, terminals, docks, piers and wharves.
Construction does not include the manufacture, production, furnishing,
construction, alteration, repair, processing, or assembling of vessels,
aircraft, or other kinds of personal property. Facilities Maintenance
Services consist of custodial or housekeeping services, security or fire
protection services, refuse collection, grounds or surfaced area
maintenance, heating systems operation and maintenance, military family
housing maintenance, energy monitoring control systems maintenance and
repair. The principle types of environmental services are restoration,
compliance, planning and Base Realignment and Closure. For more
