This list seems to have become mostly a promotion opportunity for
conventions and events, with the occasional newsletter. Given the
development of gov't. online services, it must be because most list
members are too busy with other work to write with questions, answers,
or topics for discussion - not because there's nothing to discuss.
However, I could use your expertise. Our county health officer is
seeking a tool he can use to share information and collaborate online
with health care professionals in the county & elsewhere on various
public health and terrorism prevention matters, on a secure server.
We're about to set up the secure server but are still seeking the right
collaboration software for this extranet-type service. It would have to
run on a server using AIX, IBM's version of UNIX.
Any suggestions? Places I should check? TIA for help.

I'm a big fan of Wiki as a tool for collaboration.
Wiki was created by Ward Christiansen and you can
get more info about it at:
http://c2.com/cgi-bin/wiki?WikiWikiWeb
There are versions of Wiki that run on most platforms/OS.
The most developed versions use Perl.
It's free and there are versions that require login.
