Please consider announcing the 1998 Oregon Better Government Competition to your members, by email, newsletters, or in public forums. This year's focus is local government services. A brief paragraph about the Better Government Competition follows. Individuals and organizations across the country may enter.

Announcing the 1998 Oregon Better Government Competition!

Up to $35,000 in awards for best ideas to improve Oregon local government
Former U.S. Senator Mark O. Hatfield to help select winners

The third Oregon Better Government Competition kicked off on March 1. The 1998 Competition seeks your ideas for improving local government services, from transit to park maintenance, airport management to building inspections. Up to $35,000 in honoraria will be awarded to winners. The Honorable Mark O. Hatfield is among the independent judges who will select the winners. The entry deadline for submitting short (four pages or less) idea papers is April 30.
