Delete User Implications

We've had a couple people leave our institution after creating guides, and as a general housekeeping rule, we'd like to remove their accounts. I have a couple questions about the implications of simply deleting a user from a creator role:

1. If we delete the user, are their guides deleted?
2. If their guides are not deleted, is there a way to switch ownership to another person before, during, or after the deletion process?
