World Hash Events: January 2020

Hello hashers,

An extensive search has been conducted, and I have received many submissions, but until someone older comes along . . . Our new oldest hasher is Sir Noo-Key from Canada, who got into hashing late in life running his first trail in 1994 at the age of 66. Twenty-Five years later, he is still a regular on the Edmonton H3 up in snowy Canada. So the oldest, and top three oldest hashers are . . .

1. 91 years old . . . Sir Noo-key, Edmonton H3, DOB 8 Nov 1928

2. 90 years old . . . Hanoi Bill, Sydney H3, DOB 4 May 1929

3. A mere youngster at 86 years old . . . Runnit, Taunton H3, DOB 20 Feb 1933

I had the opportunity to attend the Asia United event in Taiwan last week. It was a PanAsia bid that did not win (PanAsia was held in China), but due to all the extensive planning and local government support invested, they decided to hold the event anyway. This brings to mind a couple other failed bids that held their events anyway and they turned out excellent. Others that I recall were the infamous Beer Party in Brussels, back in 2014. There was also the Nairobi, Kenya alt interhash back in 2012. With the size and complexity of these major hash events getting bigger every year, I would not be surprised to see these alternate events taking place more often in the future. A hearty well done the Taiwan Bear H3 for hosting an amazing Asia United event.

6. IRONY - "Keep laughing and I'll *give* you something to cry about."
7. OSMOSIS - "Shut your mouth and eat your supper!"
8. CONTORTIONISM - "Will you *look* at the dirt on the back of your neck!"
9. STAMINA - "You'll sit there 'till all that spinach is finished."
10. WEATHER - "It looks as if a tornado swept through your room."
11. SOLVING PHYSICS PROBLEMS - "If I yelled because I saw a meteor coming toward you; would you listen then?"
12. HYPOCRISY - "If I've told you once, I've told you a million times - Don't exaggerate!!!"
13. THE CIRCLE OF LIFE - "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out."
14. BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION - "Stop acting like your father!"
15. ENVY - "There are millions of less fortunate children in this world who don't have wonderful parents like you do!"
