Who remembers this timeless classic?
Ode to the Aging Hasher
By Hazukashii
True trail on ball busters and not caught on false trails
Head lamps on full moons that will never fail
White flour checks and red ribbon strings
These are a few of my favorite things.
Hashers from Asia and hashers from France
Jumping over fences without catching my pants
Running shiggy trails and avoiding bee stings
These are a few of my favorite things.
Girls in white spandex and occasional boob flashes
Beer checks on hot days and long weekend hashes
Climbing over rocks and crossing cool springs
These are a few of my favorite things.
When the trails over, despite the cut stings
When I'm feeling bold
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so old.

The Dash
By Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak at a funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning… to the end.
He noted that first came the date of birth and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time they spent alive on earth
and now only those who loved them know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own, the cars… the house… the cash.
What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard; are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left that still can be rearranged.
To be less quick to anger and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile…
remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is being read, with your life’s actions to rehash,
would you be proud of the things they say about how you lived your dash?

Hash landmarks
Downtown Queenstown is the main location including the Holiday Inn Express & Suites (Hash hotel + registration), Queenstown Primary School (buses departure point for trails and evening shuttle), ** to be announced ** (Red Dress Run) and the iSite Visitor Information Centre. Not to mention numerous bars and restaurants. Frankton is where the airport is located, as well as the Queenstown Events Centre (Hash evening venue for FRI/SAT/SUN dinners and parties). Distance between both locations is 7km, evening shuttles will be provided.
Getting there
Orbus is the local public bus service, running every 15’ on the main lines during daytime. Download the Transit app for schedule and real-time info. Note it’s cheaper to buy a Bee card upon arrival at the airport than paying on the bus. For service from the airport to the city check this great resource: https://churnewzealand.com/queenstown-airport-to-the-city/
Hare teams needed
Thanks to Pittsburgh H3, Truro H3, London H3, Agana H3, Chardonnay H3, Ottawa H3 and Team Hazukashii for volunteering already. We still have openings for the Red Dress Run (10 hares), 4 trails on Saturday (5 hares each) and 6 trails on Sunday (5 hares each). If you’re a big kennel what about volunteering 10 hares so the trail is yours on both Saturday and Sunday? Please contact us at: info....@gmail.com with “Hare team” in the subject line.
Visa
Everyone needs a visa to enter NZ, unless you are a kiwi or Aussie passport holder. Many nationalities are on the list of visa waiver countries (official NZ immigration service website) which only need to apply for an electronic visa online through the NZeTa app (in Play Store). https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/preparing-a-visa-application/your-journey-to-new-zealand/before-you-travel-to-new-zealand/visa-waiver-countries
Otherwise you may need a Letter of Invitation to grease the wheel. We think we have contacted all those in need by e-mail, yet if you haven’t seen our message check your Spam folder first then eventually contact us at: info....@gmail.com with “Visa support” in the subject line.
