World Hash Events: October 2024

Greetings Hashers,
Another month is about to pass us by, but still several big events to come
in August 2024. German, Indonesian, and USA NASH HASH events all taking
place this weekend. Looking ahead to the final 4 months of the year, there
are still OVER 50 more hash events scheduled all over the world. If you are

There has been a lot of chatter about EUROHASH 2025 regos . . . Here is a
summary of recent info from the committee:
To clarify the waiting list questions that have been raised. The list is
ordered by the registration date. But there is some extra logic to the list,
which means that we don’t have a definitive order available. In the last
couple of Eurohashes, there have been some concerns about Eurohash being
overrun by our friends from the States. So at this Eurohash, we have
implemented a quota for people coming from outside the European countries.
65% of the regos will be from European countries, and the remaining 35%
divides between regos coming from all over the world. This is the reason we
don’t have a definitive waiting list order available. In private
conversations, we have heard positive feedback on this decision. Hopefully
most of you will agree with it. And to be totally clear. We don’t have any
hard feelings for the people from the States or from other places in the
world. Just this is a party for European hashers, and if half of the guests
are from outside of Europe, then that’s not really an European party
anymore. Let’s see how this turns out, and next EH organizers can decide if
they would like to apply this process also or not. FYI: from of all the
regos, a whopping 48% were from outside of Europe.
This is the current situation with Eurohash 2025 regos:
Total regos: 1040
Active: 529
- paid: 377
- payment pending: 152
Waiting list: 394
Cancelled: 117
It is planned to have total of 540 attendees. We’re keeping some buffer in
reserve at this time but if all goes well with room allocation then we’ll
also add those missing 11 regos to the pool. Cancelled regos are mostly
just duplicates. About ~30 of those are people who have let us know that
they can’t attend.
Yesterday and today we promoted another 100 people from the waiting list to
the payment list. 🎉
We have a question for people on the waiting list: Would you be interested
in the offsite option or would you rather not come to the event? This
offsite option would add 65 beds to the event. The waiting list is currently
460 people. So let us know what you think, and then we can decide if we’ll
move another 65 people from the waiting list to the payment list or not. We
are in a bit of a dilemma. Should we use the offsite accommodation option or
not? We have communicated that this option exists, but no one seems too keen
about it (only 4 people have chosen it over the Glamping at this time). It’s
about a 10-minute bus ride away from the venue (we would provide regular
shuttle bus). We have not yet accounted offsite bed spaces to the rego
limit, so there is an option for us to not use the accommodation. But we
would need to decide it soon and I would like your input on this.

Two big events coming up in SE Asia in May 2025.
* May 9-10 50th Anniversary of the Malacca H3 in Malacca,
Malaysia
* May 23-25 50th Anniversary of the Medan Harriettes in Medan,
Indonesia.

NOTE: There were 19 hash clubs founded in 1975, and 9 are still believed to
be active. So there may be more 50th anniversary celebrations to come next
