Dear GOTM Users,
We have one PhD position to fill for three years, starting on Jan 06, 2025. This PhD project will focus on the impact of upper-ocean turbulence in the tropical ocean on local and global atmosphere-ocean feedbacks and their impact on processes relevant for the climate system. A new generation of ultra high-resolution (km-scale) coupled global simulations will be used to explore the interaction of small-scale physical processes in the ocean and atmosphere in a parameter range that is only just becoming accessible.
This PhD
project will be part of a large national project cluster
(https://www.trr-energytransfers.de), providing numerous
possibilities for additional trainings,
workshops, exchange, and support. You will also have the
opportunity to visit relevant partner
institutions, annual retreats and spring/summer schools jointly
with other PhD
students and researchers in the project. Our institute is
located in Warnemuende, which is a lively seaside resort with a
maritime flair and direct access to the long sandy beaches on
the Baltic Sea coast.
The
application deadline is Oct 20, 2024. For more details
