To hear Mitchell's radio interview with Dennis Kucinich this past Tuesday, http://abetterworld.net/tv.htm
We are witnessing the collapse of systems and institutions that can no longer be artificially propped up, and/or are based on falsehood, meaning they have a fault premise. This was foreseen by sages long ago, by indigenous people the world over and by current, astute observers. Eventually a house built on a fault falters, the perpetrators of wars on false and illegal premises are identified and brought to trial. For a nation governed by the rule of law, all are subject to it, not just those who cannot afford lawyers. All are equal in the eyes of justice, or so our nation was designed. For whatever reason, the Congress over the last eight years perhaps more than ever, lost its will to enforce the law and has taken a back seat to atrocities committed in its own name and that of the American People. And I mean atrocities, which completely jeopardize our sense of self-respect, integrity, humanity in the eyes of the world and our own. These atrocities to which I refer are morally heinous but also, in most all cases, illegal. These include breaking Geneva Conventions in respect to commencing a pre-emptive war, deceiving a people about the reason and basis of a war, the use of torture under virtually any circumstance, militarily aggressing upon civilian populations, and other such crimes.
The process of impeachment is not accusatory stating that those being impeached are guilty. But it is the process of putting the President and Vice-President on trial under oath because there is a question of guilt, deception when not under oath, and the People's opportunity to demand answers to the hard questions this overly-secretive Administration has refused the American People for the better part of a decade.
Congressman Kucinich is playing a vitally important, deeply American and humane role in spearheading this process while the rest of Congress seem to be shivering under the table or just preoccupied with their own "chances" of re-election, looking out after themselves instead of us, for which they should be promptly dismissed from the position. But as Kucinich states in effect, "It is the Truth that we are after here, not political jockeying and all answers and appropriate actions will come from that..." And we all know that "The Truth will set you free...".
If you have any questions as to the legality of the current Administration's acts and actions over the past 7.5 years, this is the time to weigh in. It is late in the game, but it is not too late. Remember that this Administration, as Kucinich warned us in his interview several months back with Bill Moyers, can still do a lot more harm--they are doing whatever they can to summon support to declare war on Iran and have given Iran an ultimatum answerable in now less than two weeks (learn more here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/7515589.stm). Yesterday AG Mukasey didn't only request, but demanded that Congress pass legislation which would in effect, declare global, ongoing war on terrorism, granting the president unprecedented (indeed!) powers.
If you want to play a role in protecting your country, your Constitution, your Bill of Rights, if you want to protect the rule of law and keep in check the grabbing of power which seems to come with the position of the presidency, do something now. Go to: www.kucinich.us and sign the petition now. Kucinich will be carrying this petition into the Judiciary Committee of the House Friday, July 25. Make sure you are doing your part to sustain our integrity, personal and collective. This is the inner transformation--acting with skillful courage--that is being called upon right now.
If We Didn't Have To, We Wouldn't
![WhiteHouse]()
Most people I know are very busy, very much including myself. The last thing I want to do is to be "looking after" my government to make sure it operates legally and ethically. We each have our own creative lives and business affairs to attend to! However....
If the current Administration and government weren't carrying on in ways so adverse to the American People, if we really had a government in service to the people instead of its own agendas, we wouldn't be having this discussion. It's that our young people don't have proper textbooks in their classrooms (my brother in-law works in the inner city of New Haven teaching math to pregnant, teenage girls and they have to share books, and my sister has had to bring cushions to cover the old hard, wood chairs
these girls, fully pregnant, have to sit on, as one of countless examples), there isn't proper healthcare in the country except for the wealthy, there is the most minor attention paid to the elderly of our culture, and most lately, Bush is advocating legislation to reduce worker's safety conditions on the job. The only expenditure this Administration seems to want to make is for war, destroying, then re-building countries. So if you have a runaway, renegade government that interferes with the daily, good operation of its people, those in government must be held accountable. The names of their positions are immaterial--they are there to be honorable servants of the People and they are far from that. So we are being called upon to demand answers, hence the impeachment process. If you feel in any way called upon to right what you may perceive as long wrong, this is a chance to act immediately and meaningfully. And we have Dennis Kucinich to thank for spearhead this effort on our behalf.
Thank you for thinking of your neighbors, your brothers and sisters. This is what creating a better world is all about!
