MY BROKEN BEAT BOX is back on the block!!
Labour Day Eve, Sunday 8th March 2009
Need a good reason to hide the ends of your skater laces?
Got a stockpile of Soul-Glo in your bathroom cupboard?
Wondering why your phat pants have been heckling you from back of the clothes rack?
Wish it was still the 90s, when Emo's were confined to Flinders St Station and Big Day Out?
Suffering occassional pangs of pain from the excessive bling round your neck at turn of the century?
Aching to pull one more nang in the Global Village car park?
Don’t worry; it’s just your wild-style growing impatient to get loose and feel the original block-party vibe!
DJ Snowie, Lil Stormer, DJ Ides & Brain will put you back on your good foot this Labour Day eve. Sunday 8 March, the crew is back on the block with another edition of the MY BROKEN BEAT BOX breakers showcase... These favourite local deejays get together to bust out their best old skool beats, funky rhythms, classic samples and turntablism skills, taking you thru to the future-funk and nu skool broken beats of today.
Get back to the original home of breakbeat - Lounge Nightclub - for a journey through the music that made Melbourne.
$5 guest list (very limited space) or $8-$10 general entry.
Deejays rockit from 10pm - 4am (the infamous crew mashup continues til the breaka dawn)
(our balcony and doors open in rain, hail or shine!)
LOUNGE NIGHTCLUB (upstairs): 243 Swanston Street, Melbourne CBD

INCH BY INCH closed... disgraceful!!!
As seen on Facebook and the melbournebeats.com forum, despite being one of the best local breaks nites, INCH BY INCH was unexpectedly replaced by a weekly show at ALIA in Feb (as were the other 3 nites on rotation ;) we’re choosing not to take it too personal).
This was one of my favourite shows to promote and play; lots of friends and strangers would get together and spend it gettin silly or making new mates for life, and a beautiful space for the best of Melbourne’s DJs to rock out breakbeat music. We were into the manic style of our DJs, always delivering awesome technical ability and forever with a fun and rockin dancefloor.
Although we deliver this news with great sadness >> Sammy & I are working to find a new home for this show. Send us venue suggestions and keep the positive vibes flowing, we are hoping a swift and effective relocation program may come our way :)
Dont want this to read like I’m preaching around the pyre >> but special biggups to my friend and partner in crime LIL MISBREAKS for the good times and great tunes... and to all the DJs and punters who were there every month for our INCH BY INCH journey... it’s only right to stay in the spirit and put down a “HOLD TIGHT”, because we WILL be back soon.
Hope to see everyone in top form this long weekend... stay safe and have big fun with the people you love! xox
