Scare had Bailey spoken when they started hearing music from his
phone. Those with an ear for old television scores would recognize it
as the theme song for the A-team, the show after whose best-known
character Bailey had modeled his entire appearance and even his
accent.
Bailey flipped it open and the projector kicked in, the small version
for hand-held but a three-dimensional image of Jethro Sullivan was
projected before them.
"I got some good news guys. While researching our targets I found out
that a former guardian was hired as security by Meyers - he could be
useful in getting you an audience. I've already contacted him and he's
expecting you at Meyer's house by the rear gate in half an hour. His
name is Sam Newlander and he was on my squad since he was a kid, you
can trust him."
Bailey frowned: "Well I guess we won't be needing no fake ID's then."
he mused, "better call a cab quick then."

After the phone call finished they looked up the number for a cab
company and arranged a taxi. A bit of friendly banter followed them
but they avoided talking about the mission while the cab-driver could
overhear them. Twenty-five minutes later they were dropped at the rear
gate of candidate Meyers, and found Sam Newlander waiting for them.

[OOC: Please do not respond until Sam has written the follow-up]

The back gate to the property was obviously set up for trade use, the ornamentation of the big front gates replaced with sturdy boxed metalwork and a functional keypad enclosure. A pair of tiny cameras on poles set to cover the gate, and each other, were aimed at the short man stood near the road. He was bundled up in a worn coat cut in a military style. He waited while the three dealt with the taxi before approaching, the cameras panned following his movements.

"Hi, I'm Sam, Jethro called me, first thing we've had resembling a conversation for years, said you were in town and needed some help. Something to do with my boss, want to fill me in?" there is still a hint of East Coast in his accent, but muted from years living abroad. He focusses on Callum, and pauses.

"Sam?" Callum extends a hand "Sam Newlander...? The last time I saw you you were about fifteen. I'm Callum Fraser, I don't know if you remember me?"

He takes the offered hand, his bones obvious within the old skin as Callum shakes, "I thought I recognised you, just didn't realise it was from that long ago. But, of course, lycan." there is a slight edge to his voice as he finishes, then, "Did you and, I want to say Moira, tie the knot?"

Obviously less worried about the strangers, although not completely at ease, Sam starts walking back to the gate and without pressing the keycode it starts to open, electric motors hauling the heavy metalwork to one side.

Bailey followed Sam toward the gates. "We have reason to believe there may be a plot to assassinate your boss. We need to talk to him. Maybe you fools can do the happy reunion later ?"

Sam pauses partway through the gate, "I'm sorry, we don't seem to have been introduced. I'm the guy who is bringing you in to his bosses secure grounds on the say so of an old friend. Who are you?" He stands partially blocking the gate evidently willing to take things slower if this young whippersnapper wants to continue being rude.

Bailey rolled his eyes. "Very well, Martin Bailey, back in New York -
I used to do your job, and if somebody told me they had impending news
of an assasination plot against my client I bloody well used to listen
to what they had to say before I stood on ceremony sucka."

OOC: Bailey is actually older than Sam ;)

"You should see my spam folder, death threats are a close third behind penis enlargements and begging letters," Sam replied, "I work for a very wealthy and high profile man, Jethro contacting me is why I'm giving your threat this much credibility."

Through the gate they reach an enclosed electric car, Sam motions to the seats arranged around a table inside as his concentration directs inwards, using his retinal monitor to confirm the destination through his neural link to the main processors.

"So, too close to dawn for any straight vampires, what did Jethro send? Lycans, mages?"

> OOC: Bailey is actually older than Sam ;)
OOC: And at the moment the only way Sam could tell would be by having him cut in half and counting the rings :-)  .

"We sent the vamps to go beddy-bye, we're all shifters in this group."
Bailey responded. "Didn't mean no offense there pal, but
what we are trying to stop is a lot bigger than your boss, though we
think killing him may be part of it."

"It's OK, we're both in the security business right, puts you on edge." Again Sam's concentration goes elsewhere as he works briefly on his link, "we're heading for the secure entrance round the back of the main annex, the meeting room there is the most secure. Want to give me the cliff notes? Jethro just said to expect you."

"Do you remember people talking about someone called Morganis Johnson Sam?" Callum jumps in "I'm not sure if you ever met him. He's an old style vamp. Uses some kind of strange blade which has been used to kill a number of high profile targets on other continents. The last hit pointed towards London and a high profle Supernatural victim hence why we're here."

"Oh and in answer to your other question, it was Meg, and no we didn't get married, it didn't quite work out. I gather she's pretty happy, we're still friends, but it was not to be."

"Morganis Johnson?" Sam thinks for a bit, "no, it was all so hectic and I was a lot younger back then, I was really just concentrating on what was happening with Michael. And then by the time I got out of college the Guardians had all been disbanded. I can see why a high profile Supernatural would point to Peter though. He is destined for great things, he would make a very tempting target. This explains why some of my contacts around the World have been jittery about something too sensitive for them to give me the full story on. How many do you know he's killed?"

The car rounds the corner and a heavy security door is obvious, the spots highlighting it still bright, even with the dawn sun rising.

Sam seems genuinely sorry about this, "I thought you two were the real thing, sorry to hear it wasn't to be."

As the vehicle comes to a halt Sam's focus changes for a moment then, as he snaps out of it, he adds, "basic security protocol, once we are through the doors I'll go through the detector corridor first and buzz the green light when it's ready for you. What weapons have you got on you? I'll need to check them in."

"Do these count as weapons ?" Bailey asked holding up two fists, each
of which seemed quite
capable of breaking somebodies nose, chin and crown with a single
blow. "Cos other than that, I'm clean."

"Those will be fine," Sam replied with a smile, "although the scanner will have trouble seeing through all that metal, if you can lift the chains while you are in the corridor that should be enough." he looked to the others, "nothing I need to worry about?"

"I can see how they've been kept on the down low, it's a generalisation, but those continents tend to have their media pretty well buttoned down still. It happens here, or North America it'll be much harder to keep quiet. Much evidence? You mentioned a signature weapon?"

A grimace passes briefly across Sam's face, "ah, we don't really talk any more. Things got a bit odd when I started my mid-life crisis and he was barely out of puberty. I see him now and again, mostly when he's got himself in trouble and needs bailing out."

"Aye some sort of blade, like a glave, did you ever see that movie Krull?" Callum grinned expansively "The one with the Castle that kept moving, with Lysette Anthony as the Princess. ' I give you my fire'. Ah I have fond memories of that filum."

Lyal stuffs his hands into his pockets, and pulls a left handed Stanley Knife out of his right pockets, and a right handed Stanley Knife out of his left pocket. He puts the blades down before him, feeling slightly defensive about his choice of weaponry he suddenly blurts "What?! Less chance of accidentally killing someone, but pretty damn painful, lots of blood! Stops me killing someone I don't have to kill!"

He stuffs his hands back into his pockets and scuffs his shoes the floor.
