A brief physical description of your character: Martin Luther Bailey
grew up in the early 80's. His particular form of Lycanthropy gave him
exceptional physical strength even in human form and he took a role
model which at the time was the ultimate example of the black tough
guy. B.A. Barackus from the A-Team. Like his childhood hero he has a
mohawk hairstyle and a penchant for elaborate earrings and many chains
around his neck while wearing mostly tight fitting sleeve-less shirts.
He is built with the muscular and stocky build of his shift-animal and
even in human form has massive muscles.
Character backstory (tell us who your character is, and how he came to
be there tonight): Growing up in Harlem, New York in the 1980s with
the slow aging of a lycan Bailey was frequently bullied during his
youth. His name further got him teased. As he reached puberty and the
muscles of his shift animal began to form in earnest he responded with
violence and got into many fights. Already he had begun to base his
appearance on his television rolemodel - a change he would keep for
life. His attitude and propensity for violence would reduce over time
however as he started to grasp the softer side of his hero - even as
he proudly adorned the attitude and pride of the character.
As the 1980s ended more and more his mannerisms and look taken from
the iconic show made him an object of fun rather than admiration but
Bailey never particularly cared - he felt comfortable in his own skin
- even if that skin was decorated with somebody else's.
Bailey led a fairly pastoral life for most his time. His shift animal
is herbivoric so he was hardly likely to come to the attentions of the
guardians and except for a few bar-fights he was largely uninvolved in
supernatural affairs prior to the Last night of blood. It was in the
years after that he came to know Jethro Sullivan. Feeling a pressure
of conscience about not using his fighting abilities heroically like
Barracus did, he decided he wanted to make a difference.
As the law recognized the rights of lycans - he joined the NYPD as one
of their first non-human officers. His incredible physique served him
well and he earned a few medals during his nearly 20 years on the
force. But 20 years as a policeman is hard on anybody - even somebody
who only aged 5 years during it.
So Bailey retired, now well known in supernatural circles as one of
their best examples of a good citizen to point at, he started a
private security company. Black Steer Bodyguards is now considered
among the best companies for V.I.P protection services in New York and
their particular knowledge of the supernatural means that they can
offer a level of protection which considers abilities human assailants
wouldn't have. This has made Bailey wealthy and well-connected.
Now he has answered Sullivan's call... something in him still yearns
to be a hero.
Favorite weapon: Human form: bare fists / Shifted: horns
Magic abilities: Bailey retains full consciousness when shifted but
his intelligence is reduced and he is more easily angered. He can
shift at will.
