Next week's Hgen seminar will take place on Wednesday 14 December at 10:00 


Silas Kieser will talk about: "Everything you wanted to know from your metagenome, with three commands!” 

Metagenomics transformed how we study microbiomes. However, the analysis of metagenomics sequences is complex and relies on reference databases which might be lacking for the microbiome under investigation. Metagenome-atlas is a pipeline streamlining metagenome analysis from raw reads to statistical interpretation. It enables genome-centric functional analysis even of microbiomes lacking comprehensive reference catalogs. 
 
Silas did his Master's studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and obtained a PhD from the medical faculty at the University of Geneva. He is the lead developer of metagenome-atlas, a pipeline for metagenome analysis. Besides microbiome analysis at the computer, he's also hands-on involved by changing the diapers of his two children.
