Recap: General Body Meeting 1/26

Hey GOTers,


I was thrilled to see so many of you at our first meeting of the
spring semester. For those of you who were not able to make it but
also as a good review of what we covered for those who did come please
read the following recap:


1. Discussion of the purpose of Gators of Tomorrow: -
- Leadership, mentorship, and collaboration = basic purposes of
program
- Five pillars= Vision, organization, collaboration,
communication, and determination
- Will have student speakers come to meetings and
focus on a pillar
- need for commitment from everyone

2. How the organization will function:
- All GOTers will attend two meetings a month
- 1 general body meeting towards end of month
- 1 commitee meeting occuring about 2 weeks after
general body meeting
- All committee directors (x5) will meet with Josh once a month
during week before general body meeting
-Use of constant communication through email/GOT network with
reminder text messages- be respectful, reply

3. Re-introduction game
- 5 minutes to speak with neighbor about their winter break
- GOTers called out words relating to their neighbors' or their
winter break following an alphabetical order
- Name all of the GOTers in the room

4. Committee information
- Socials- Plan on something for after the next gen body
meeting and a movie night
- Fundraising- please SIGN UP for concessions
- Conference- Raise app fee to $10, help with gator nights to
use Orange and Brew for free
- keep the event classy but must limit
costs!
- Marketing- John is really tired and will be making great t-
shirts
- Community service- Diversity fair event: performances plus
discussion,
- GOters should tap into their
diverse connections to help recruit orgs to event

5. Speaker- Domonique Worship
- The power of VISION- since young age tried to find what
made her passionate
- Became very active in activities she felt strongly about-
ex: President of UF chapter of ONE
- Many drafts and revisions of personal statement
- Accepted to many law schools including Harvard and U Penn

***ATTACHMENTS: Will upload meeting syllabus, GOTer responsibilities,
GOT general body meeting, and GOT pillars to the network sites under
files! Look it up.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION/REQUESTS

- Each committee director should send me the date/time of their
committee meeting (should be in around 2 weeks)
- Bring up GOT diversity fair with your orgs and see who could come-
talk with Alyana
- Tell Julia if you can help with concessions
- Jesse: Send us the dates of the upcoming general body meetings if
you please.
- I need two GOTers to help me with administrative tasks
-1. Someone to keep meeting minutes and send it to GOTers
afterwards (like i just did)
-2. Someone to keep spreadsheet of attendance at meetings and
other major GOT events

-MANDATORY- GOTer obligations:

1. Attend all pertinent meetings
2. Attend one graham center event/semester
3. Become mentor for next generation GOTer

* Failure to complete any of these criteria can result in GOT
leadership labeling you "inactive"
