Hello ,

I'm on a Mac.
I had a google group called "some...@bcmaterials.org" and renamed it to "someth...@bcmaterials.org" and exported an mbox file of all its content.

I created a new google workspace user called "some...@bcmaterials.org", put mbox in correct folder on my desktop and I run following command (after giving all permissions to gyb):
/Users/ME/bin/gyb/gyb --email some...@bcmaterials.org --action restore-mbox --local-folder "/Users/ME/bin/gyb/exports" --service-account

It gives me

restoring 1 messages (875) - 100.00%

done!

However the mailbox is empty. If I rerun the command it says

skipping already restored message #875

done!

Mailbox stays empty. What could be going wrong? I would expect the messages being available in the mailbox? Is it because I immediately started the restore after renaming the google group and creating the new google workspace user with the same  old google group name that got google confused?
Thanks for your input!
Ken

Check "All mail" - if there were no labels on the mbox messages then Gmail restores them to an archived state and they only show in all mail.

Hi,

yup I had already figured it out last evening.
Some tips for other people:
- the path has to lead to the folder containing the mbox file(s).
- It only worked when adding --service-account, did not work for --use-admin (or without anything) even though I am an admin.
Thank you!
