Backup non-gmail inbox and restore to google group

Hi all,

Here's the task:

Backup Source = non-google inbox. Can be accessed by IMAP

Restore Destination = google group

I know gyb can handle the restoration into a Google Group. Is there a format I can perform the backup into which would be compatible?

assuming the Google group exists
gyb --email $DestinationEmailAddress --action restore-group --local-folder $RestoreFolder --service-account --batch-size 4 --strip-labels --use-admin $GoogleSuperAdmin

The downside of this is there is a size limit to what a group will take. if you have an email over a certain size it will error, be skipped and continued.

you can ignore the batch size  --batch-size 4 and you decide if you want labels if so delete  --strip-labels

Hey Timothy,

I've been doing exactly this.

My work around has been to use the Gmail Data import tool to import from IMAP to Gmail then Gmail to Group.
