For years I have had two gmail accounts, one for my busienss one for my personal.

For years before that I ran it all from my personal.

On top of that, I screwed a setrting and some of my personal email went out with a reply to my business address.

So now I want to untangle this.

I use labels a bunch.  So lets suppose I I have all the old business messages in my personal accout (about 10,000).  They are all labeled "Farm"

I slurp them down in batches of 100 (most are just text)

With each download, I follow that up by labeling that batch "slurped"  At the end of my day, I can trash all the ones labeled slurped, wait for gmail to catch up, then empty the trash.

Now, in another terminal window, I restore to my actual business account.

Will they be in the correct place, or will they have new dates?

Will threaded messages still be threaded?

Do this BEFORE you delete anything in the old account. That way if it doesn't work you've lost nothing.

Yes, GYB restore preserves original dates.

> Will threaded messages still be threaded?

Yes, Gmail will rethread the messages on restore.

Cool.  You are a prince.  I will start tiny trial runs tomorrow after coffee.

Yes.  Old sysadmin here.  NEVER do anything you can't undo.
