Hi, I have 3.6 GB mbox file form my old GSuite account backup, with 32.424 inbox, 995 sent mail, 770 chats. It's possible to restore my new G Suite account?

You can use the "--action=restore-mbox" parameter to restore from an mbox file created by Google Takeout.

Does it not hit the bandwidth limits set by Google?

I recently tried a 4G mbox file restore.  I didn't hit any bandwidth limits, but it took days.  The restore was running about 1 message per second, and would often error out after 8-12 hours.  Restarting would take a couple hours to figure out where it left off to resume.  I finally gave up.

Lesson:  save multiple mbox files of 1G max to make restoring easier.

GYB 1.01 can restore large mbox but it's very slow and consumes as much memory as the mbox file since the Python library must read the whole file into memory and parse it before it'll let you read the first message.

The current unreleased master GYB code includes a much faster mbox implementation, you'll notice it can start restoring mail almost immediately even with 10gb mbox files and it doesn't consume much memory.

You can download the master code at:

or wait until I get a chance to release a new version.
