Hi Gosu community,

I am one of the co-founder of Sonar, the open source platform for code
quality management. I was wondering if there would be some interest on
your side for building an Gosu extension for Sonar. Does any tool for
static code analysis exists already ?

Thanks

Hello Olivier

There is definitely interest. In fact I started (a very early) look at Sonar to see how to have it work with Gosu projects.
I will be interested in such project.

AFAIK there is not much in terms of code analysis and quality tools available for Gosu.

Thanks
Yehoram.

There were several Australian insurance companies with fairly large development teams that are using Gosu, and are interested in code quality tools.

There are also some US insurance companies with very well known names that are Guidewire customers that have expressed interest in a Sonar plugin.

I do now know if any of those folks are listening on this email list, but if they are, they can represent themselves and indicate their interest level.   If they don't respond, I'd be happy to privately reach out to the ones that I know and indicate that you are looking for people to help move the needle on code-analysis and code-quality tools, and you in touch with them.

I've started to integrate a code coverage tool (Jacoco) with Gosu and
I have an example of how it works up on github: https://github.com/chrisgow/GosuJaCoCo.
I'd be interested in creating a plugin for Gosu in sonar. I'm slowly
starting work on an IntelliJ code coverage plugin for Gosu.

Fortunately since Gosu generates Java bytecode, we can use the
existing Java libraries that do all of the actual work and the plugins
should mostly be shims between the two languages

One of the company you referenced even built one but what they did can
not really be used anymore.
I am definitely interested to get in touch with those guys as this
would help.

I do not know Gosu well, therefore sorry if my questions are dummy...

This is great. One question: do you manage to get one to one
correspondance between bytecode and source code ?

Unfortunately, there are only few tools on Java that work on bytecode
(Only Findbugs and coverage tools), the other ones work on source code

Is there some sort of tooling available in Gosu to parse the code and
maybe produce an abstract syntax tree ?

Thanks

Olivier

Has there been any progress on this?  I don't see GOSU on the plugin list so I assume GOSU plugin is now dormant or dead?

Which version of IntelliJ IDEA are you using?
We currently support IntelliJ IDEA 11,  we are planning to release a new version supporting IntelliJ IDEA 12 along with
some language features/improvements.

Gosu plugin appears on IntellijIDEA 11.1.5 plugin repositories
It works fine as well on that version.

Good news but actually, I was wondering about Sonar plugin activity or progress as well.  I'll check with Intellij users about the plugin, though.

Do you know if there is progress on the sonar plugin for gosu?

Thanks
