Tulip bulb giveaway today
Boulder’s Parks and Rec reation Department will hand out 300 to 400 bags of tulip bulbs at its annual bulb giveaway today.
Residents can pick up bulbs on a first-come, first served basis starting at 11:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall.
The city changes the vari ety and color of the tulips on the pedestrian mall every year, planting about 15,000 new tulip bulbs each fall.
After the bloom, the bulbs are removed to make way for summer plantings and stored until the giveaway in August.
Pearl Street Mall tulips are imported directly from Holland from a wholesale provider.
