I too have had some thiefing this last week.
In addition, someone cleared a portion of my plot (plants that I was collecting
seed from). That puzzeled me until I learned that there was someone in the
garden last week who thought that by working on plots(pulling weeds) they
could take produce. Perhaps a plot holder suggested that to a friend and
that friend applied it garden wide.
Individual signs may help, knowing your fellow
gardeners will help. Letting people who are curois about the garden know
that these are plots rented by families for the season and supplying information
about Growing Gardens might help. There will always be some loss unless we
revisit the fence idea. Some of the other community gardens have locked
fences.
Consider a sign in front that says something
like
Goss-Grove Neighborhood Community
Garden
in partnership with the Goss-Grove
Neighborhood Association (GGNA)
and the City of Boulder Transporation
Department.
Administered by Growing
Gardens.
These plots are rented by area
residents each year for their personal use.
The area is maintained by volunteers
from the GGNA and plot holders.
Contact Growing Gardens for
information about renting a plot.
Enjoy the Garden, but please respect
and don't pick.
