Hello Gardeners,
I'm sorry to share that John Bales, a wonderful and enthusiastic Community Gardener of the Hawthorn and Goss Grove gardens died this past Sunday. The following is his obituary and the details of his funeral.
John Mark BALES , resident of Longmont, CO, aged 59, passed away Sunday morning on Dec 6, 2009, at 4:06 a.m. He was in surgical ICU for multiple fractures and injuries at Longmont United Hospital and at Denver Health Medical Center after being struck by an automobile the previous Thursday evening out front of his home at 1641 Main Street in Longmont.
John was born in Oakland, CA, March 11, 1950, and grew up in Richmond, CA.
His father, Harold W. Bales, died in military air-force service in 1957. John is survived by his mother Frances Marie Dodson Bales Kusner of Boulder, CO, and his two sisters Frances “Lucia” Chmiel of Boulder, CO, and Sylvia Bales of Hillsdale, WY, and their children.
Funeral services will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Longmont on Thursday Dec 10 at 10 a.m., 1335 Francis Street Longmont, CO 80501-2511 (303) 776-2573 followed by a graveside ceremony at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
