I have a Kogan Agora netbook and want to disable the touchpad whilst I
type. I opened a terminal window and keyed in the command sudo gedit/
etc/hal/fdi/policy/shmconfig.fdi.
I then pressed Enter and was asked for my password - but the keyboard
doesn't work then and I can't type in anything. Help! I can only close
the terminal window.

When you typing password into a terminal.
for security, the terminal won't show any symbol.
you should just input you password and press [Enter], it will accept
it if the password correct.
