By a bi-partisan vote of 4-3, Goshen's City Council passed the
amendment to include sexual orientation and gender identity in our
civil rights ordinance.

Thanks to everyone who spoke, almost all of whom were respectful and
civil, and showed up. The crowd of over 200 was one of the largest
Council has ever had.

Before it becomes law, the amendment goes before the council for a
second reading on Sept 1. We don't expect any of our 4 votes to change
between now and then, but we will need to show up again for that
meeting to show support and counter some of the arguments and
questions raised at this meeting.

Goshen is truly a place we can be proud of.
