Today, 09/12, I and with one Mr Nitin from Ganga Heights went to Mundhwa police station and filed a complaint against the illegal punturewalas operating their racket adjacent to the Bakery. Police has assured that they will take action, however, the crime is not very serious and hence, the punturewalas can be released.

I tried explaining that punturing of tyres is not a joke . First, it is a damage to someone's property. Second and more important, driving on damaged tyres can be a threat to life - a side rupture can cause tyre burts even at speed at 80 kmph.

We (Nitin and I) were adamant that we just don't want any monetary compensation, but we demanded the entire illegal punture wala racket to be erased from mundhwa road.

The police case is on damages to tyres of Nitin's car, and I being a witness. We have also stated that today's incident was not a one off case, and is a regular problem in this area.

I need the support of entire society to ensure that these people get driven away from this place. I understand that they would land up elsewhere, however, if we dont nip the problem at the bud, these people would grow bolder and venture into more dangerous crimes.

Thanks

I fully agree. Even I have just paid them 500 Rs. for repairing the punture to my car parked in common parking area.. The unauthorise punturewalla are just criminal and have easy access to our society members car. In  fact, yesterday I asked security to be extra vigilant..

We may report to Pune mirror and can call their correspondence to our society to highlight the issue...

Please let me know what kind of support is expected...

I have faced similar issues earlier. The larger picture as said correctly is , we need to control this ASAP else it buds other crimes as well.

I think, an application with signature stating impacted residents/ victims and extended support from other residents to police station should be enough to start with.

Suggestions welcome...

Vikas

Hi,

Well.. About a month back, when punturewallas came into the Ganga Orchard and punched multiple times in the tyres of car parked in the D2/D1 parking lot, my wife and I had gathered a list of (partial) affected residents and launched a complaint and registered it with the society office. We were promised that a complaint would be filed in Mundhwa police station. I am not sure what is the status of that complaint. if any one has any additional complaints on punture walas then please contact the society office and please add your grievences to that list.

When Nitin and I lodged the complaint, police filed the FIR on the basis of only the bakery-side punture-walla and not the entire lot of cheats that illegally ocuppy the Mundha road. We need to take serious action against the entire bunch of rascals. Since this is a menance for all societies in Pingle Vasti/Mundwa, we need to garner support from the neighbourhood. If all the socities can file a collective complaint on intances of cheating, intentional damage to property and public nuisance, police would need to take some action. Once a complaint is filed, we would need to ensure that we need to follow-up on the case.

I think what we lack is a bit of follow-up and a bit of more aggresive action on this issue. This issue needs to taken up from society heads - chairmain, sec etc.. other residents can do the ground work/running around, but the complaint SHOULD be from respective chairman/ge-sec (internal issues should not come in the way of serious threats facing residents!).

Calling Pune mirror will be a good idea and this would further pressurise the police to take some action. I could not find any contact number for Pune mirror on their website. Not sure if I could not find the number, however, if anyone has the number please message it to the group. I will be talking to Nithin (Ganga Heights) to check what happened to the FIR and shall update this group.

Let's target this weekend to be the date when we can expect some action from ourside, and then hope police acts on our complaints. I am taking this issue seriously - I already have had three tyres damaged, however, cost is more than 10k worth of damage - it is time wasted for fixing tyres, the fear of tyre bursting any time, it is the fear of someone punturing the tyres on a nice sunday afternoon, it is the problem of living in fear.

Thanks

Vikas while are at it, we might as well take up the OLD PENDING issue of the PMC workers staying opposite our building. At the end of the day, Goyal Ganga has kept us in the dark and we have ended up staying as prisoners in our own flats! I think we should take this matter to court

Dear Friends,

The menace is aggravating day by day. We can take help from Police but the consistency of the outcome (i.e. permanent resolution of the problem) may not be reached. Also we need to see how to guard our area on our own strength.

We can use technology (CCTV as proposed by Ramakant before) or keep one person to guard during the day time or apply both the options for full proof outcome. Any other suggestions , please come up.

Let's all ponder over possible solutions and apply whatever would be feasible.

Cheers,
Srikant
