The only thing causing some consternation is what to do with Sage which is a requirement for their accounts package. The idea is to spin up a Server 2022 VM in the same subscription as the Azure Virtual Desktop pool and install Sage data access components and host the Sage database on a shared folder on this server. Then we will install the Sage client on one or more of the virtual desktop hosts and point it back to the server hosting the actual data.

Sage Exchange Desktop requires the installation of a desktop application. This desktop application uses ClickOnce deployment and requires Systems Administrator level access install. This can be installed by downloading the most current version of the installer compatible with your integration from the Sage Exchange Desktop Installation page. The software can be installed from the bootstrapper file locally or from a network file share.

I had this issue before where Sage stops working and the next time you try to load it, it will act funky. Right click on your taskbar and select "Windows Task Manager", then click on "more details" (I believe that was the name) to expand the window, look for "pvxwin32.exe" and close all running instances. Then try to load sage again, it should work normally

I figured out what was happening. I have a laptop connected to 2 external monitors with a USB dock. Somehow the Sage desktop was opening on the laptop screen which shouldn't have been active in this setup. Thanks to everyone that offered suggestions. It just so happened as I was working through some of the suggestions that I discovered the truth.

I am using Debian Testing (now "Sid" because I was wondering if it could help; it doesn't) and Ubuntu (23.10). Since a recent (a few months ago?) upgrade of Singular, SageMath won't launch on my Debian machines (laptop and desktop) or on my recently upgraded Ubuntu. I'm encountering the following error:

Error in sys.excepthook:Traceback (most recent call last):File "/usr/lib/python3.11/pathlib.py", line 1251, in is_dirreturn S_ISDIR(self.stat().st_mode)^^^^^^^^^AttributeError: 'str' object has no attribute 'stat'See the file debug-launching-sage.log.

3. Once installed, start the application (there should be a shortcut on the desktop) and log into a Dext Prepare account. This account should have access to all of the client accounts that you want to integrate with Sage 50. Any integrations performed on the app are only available when the account that performed the integration is signed in.

Here you could have folder (like Bank or Tax Services) which drilled down to further Windows. Basically using the innovative OS/2 technology of the day. Otherwise this desktop was implemented as a standard Windows MDI application written in C. This was the desktop used exclusively for versions 1.0A to 3.0A. It was also used for the 16-bit versions of 4.0A and 4.1A.

IBM never produced a 32-Bit version of their OS/2 control library for Windows. As a result we had to create a new desktop for our 32-Bit version, which we did using the Microsoft MFC framework. This is now in the age of Windows 95 where Microsoft now has nested icons and tree controls as introduced in the Windows 95 file explorer. These new controls are easy to use from MFC and we created a new desktop using these written in C++. This desktop has been included in all our versions since 4.0A. With 4.2A we dropped the 16-Bit version and this became our only desktop for a short while.

This desktop was written in C# as a standard .Net WinForms program. It included things like desktop notifications and news from Sage. Had a modern look and supported most things expected in the desktop. However Sage 300 ERP and CRE were really the only applications in Sage that adopted this and eventually development was discontinued. This desktop was included in versions 5.5A and 5.6A.

With the forthcoming release of Sage 300 ERP 2014 we will be updating the standard Windows desktop that we introduced back in version 4.0A with an updated look. We have all new icons for both the programs and for the toolbar. Plus a new look for the toolbar.

I've just performed a parallel install of 4.5 on our server (2008 R2). The installation went fine with no problems that I can find. I then installed the workstation on my desktop (Win7 x64). Every time I try to start it, I get a blank window that is minimized on the task bar for about 60 - 90 seconds. This is followed by a window titled WindX Client Connection that states "Unable to connect to server: "ServerName". The server cannot be found." The 4.4 desktop runs with no problems.

I tried uninstalling both MAS desktops, and reinstalling just the 4.5 desktop. I've performed the installation using Run as Administrator, with the firewall and antivirus disabled, and using both the DNS name of the server and its IP address. The problem remains the same. This is a dual homed server. DNS is good with tracert correlating the two IP addresses with the DNS name.

Open Windows explorer, and type %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs in the address bar and press enter. This is the folder that contains you start menu shortcuts. If you want the sage shortcut somewhere else (like your desktop), open that folder instead.

For example, if you install Sage from source tarballs, you could decideto include the version number in the name, such as sagemath-9.6.If you build SageMath from a clone of the git repository, it is better tochoose a name that identifies the directory, perhaps sagemath-devor sagemath-teaching because the version will change.
