Arethere any mods which include decent two-seater cockpits suitable for training/reconaissance craft? I'd love to have something that looks decent and has a shared IVA, as I'm getting a little tired of makeshifting it with cubic struts and offset.
Ok, maybe I should clarify. I'm here to see about single-piece two-seater cockpits that don't look like crap. And by "makeshifting it with cubic struts", I meant attaching a second cockpit behind the first with cubic struts as mounting points to make it more flush than just laying them out in a line. So, for me they really don't "fill the role jsut fine".
I agree, this is amazingly well designed and executed, will probably be copied many times, since it's the way the interior of a cinema of this scale should look like. The additions are great stuff, too.
I guess the only reason they didn't do it this way is that it's contradictory to the modular concept - in my opinion this shows how a system with inflexible determinations may strongly interfere with the design of such a thing. There's much empty room in the lobby which could be used much better - as you have shown. 26 seats instead of 6 - that's quite an improvement! The figs will like that since they can take their friends and family to the cinema, too.
Fantastic Auditorium you have created there Missing Brick. I guess this is the style that a vast majority had hoped for with the Palace Cinema but I guess the style they have created is from a different era and price too.
I was very disappointed with the Palace Cinema's interior, particularly the windows in the screening room, the non seperate projection booth and the limited seating. Your mods solve all of these issues. I will certainly be doing something like this, unless I go for a straight rip-off!! Speaking of which, would it be possible to post more pictures as some details are still a little fuzzy. A Ldraw or LDD file would be great but I know how time-consuming that can be.
I have left room for the two ticketing windows in the lobby. The floor above the projection room is designed to line up flush with the base of the upper storey windows (so the projection room has no windows to the outside). So hopefully it should all mesh together well with some minor tweaks.
Yes. This is tricky. Ideally the seating should be one or two studs further back - but the geometry is pretty much fixed by the need to keep a minimum 4-studs for the ticket kiosks, the projection booth and the 45 degree door area. The way I've made it you can just about see the screen from the back row of the balcony with a slightly restricted view.
I would love to see updates on this. I was also thinking this would be a great design for a potential opera house, which would be cool as it could go in the "civic center" with the town hall, fire/police HQ, etc.
I liked this so much. Great job! (-: I have really liked how you made the way through the second floor. I am not sure if I am going to purchase the palace cinema or not. Maybe I will get Town Hall or the Haunted Mansion or sth different. ?:
Sorry, I don't have an LDD file. I built it the old fashioned way - you know, trying things out with actual bricks and plates :) It should be fairly easy to copy. You just need a shed load of red seats, DBG plates and dark tan 2's & 1's.
New pics of the complete interior to follow next weekend - the screen wall is done and looks pretty smart with chandelier and iPhone screen built in. Great fun playing the opening credits to Star Wars in the auditorium. I first saw the film in a cinema alot like the Palace. Double nostalgia.
I've been looking and I haven't been able to find a 2 seater version of the F-16 flown by the IAF or any other country. Could someone please point me in the right direction or just message me the file. Thanks!
There are many Advanced F-15 Eagle variants. All 2-seater variants of the Strike Eagle, all having GE engines, like the F-15QA and F-15SA. So, if there's a texture template for that, then you can reuse it.
Unless I knew more about the configuration of that model, I can't say for sure whether I could easily edit it to put the visors down. I don't think I want to mess with that anyway, it's not that important.
I've spoken with GR and he says he'll release everything he has in a few months. So, just wait a few more months and you can use his AIM-120D, AIM-260A, AGM-158C (And whatever else he may make) for your F-15EX.
I had thought about developing my own, but I decided it was better to not reinvent the wheel. Until GR mods are released the F-15EX will have AIM-120C-5 (stock) and C-7. The F-15C(U) will have access to AIM-120D, but you will have to have the Grinnelli F-22 mod installed for the AIM-120D, otherwise it will just be the C-5 and C-7 like the F-15EX. Due to the workaround I have implemented to allow the outer wing pylons on the F-15EX to be implemented, I cannot add the AIM-120D from the F-22 mod just by referencing it in the LUA file, and doing anything else to add that missile would probably create a situation similar to the ADFX-01 mod.
I am also considering an F-15CX mod (unbuilt single seat version of the F-15EX). This would use the F-15C external model, possibly with optional CFTs, and would have access to the AMBER racks and quad missile carriage on the wings (no outer wing hardpoints though, or else I'm stuck with the same issue I had to work around for the EX).
The F-15C(U) will not replace the F-15C, it will add in just like a typical free mod, and reference the F-15C cockpit, avionics, and external model. The only differences from the F-15C official module will be in weapons capability. Improved AIM-120 and AIM-9X variants will replace the older AIM-7 and AIM-9 missiles, and the Legion pod will be available on the centerline pylon as well.

Custom cockpit progress has been rather slow, I hope to make it available with Version 2.0 (1.5 is next release). Please note the cockpit may not be 100% accurate, but it will be configured more or less correctly.
On a sidenote I am currently working on giving an old F/A-18E mod that I found on my hard drive a facelift. The forum topic is here if anyone is interested, I may expand it to a Super Hornet Block III:
Although I also think it is just... interesting that these things existed. Personally, my highest priority would be to see a fixed forward firing gun for the F.E.2, given how frustrating it was to not have one in Rise of Flight... and after that, perhaps the Vickers-Crayford would be interesting (as would the simpler single seater F.E.2b - with the front cockpit faired over and minimal changes).
Note: Flying Circus is modelled by Yugra media - Development of Flying Circus reportedly doesn't slow development of WWII projects. So these field mods wouldn't interfere with WWII products lines.
F.E.2b/d with fixed forward firing gun for the pilot. Some F.E.2b may have been equipped similarly. There are also reports of aircraft with two fixed forward firing guns. A fixed gun would remove a lot of frustration for players flying in the pilot's seat who are currently totally reliant on the quality of the AI gunner:
F.E.2b single seat field mod. In this case the gunner position is faired over and two fixed forward firing Lewis guns. Note: There were also more extensively modified single-seat versions with redesigned cockpits. Apparently such field modifications were relatively common:
There were more extensive single-seat conversions (although I personally like the one above - it'd be simpler to model as it could reuse the existing cockpit) and the guns are easy to access. Anyway, I'm including the pictures in the spoiler as it is interesting how many variants of the single-seat conversions existed:
F.E.2b with 37mm "pom pom", in a semi-rigid mounting, in addition to bombs. The photograph is from 100 squadron, 102 squadron also received similar aircraft, while others were issued to home defense squadrons. Used primarily for attacks against trains from March/April 1917 until the end of the war. I suspect this semi-automatic 37mm armed designs might count as a separate variant (given how extensive the changes are), and I doubt enough references survive - but it is still interesting:
F.E.2d had a new engine and expanded fuel capacity, but was otherwise almost identical to the F.E.2b. This should raise the speed from 147 km/h to 156 km/h (making it almost as fast as an Albatros D.II) and significantly improve the ceiling.
F.E.2b early undercarriage. This would prevent the carrying of 230lb bombs and also reduce the speed to 141 km/h. The main benefit would be making it easier for the Fokker E.III and Halberstadt D.II to catch.
R.E.8 with fixed oblique downward firing Davis Recoilless rifle loaded by the gunner. This installation was tested in combat and considered successful in spite of aiming issues.
Note: This weapon is similar to the Handley-Page O/400's Davis gun and would reuse existing programming to give us a second, more nimble, aircraft with this weapon.
I'm not mad keen on field mods to be honest but will consider them and have voted accordingly. Nice shots of the Fee though and I do look forward to her being released. One can never have enough "pushers". They are the future.
I am appalled however that someone has voted as "not interested in WW1"! That someone walks the Earth with that view stunned me initially but now I just feel pity and hope his/her suffering ends soon.
I just want a fixed forward firing gun on the F.E.2b/d myself... some of the others would be fun to experiment with... but having a gun for the pilot would be so much less frustrating! I'm sure it'd be a more popular plane if both the pilot and the gunner had a weapon.
The Vicker-Crayford 40mm cannon would give us a cannon-armed two seater (if we can't have a Voisin V / Voisin VIII / Brguet Bre.V then it'd be something at least). That said - I think I'm more strongly drawn to that single-seat field mod which retains the original Fee cockpit. I think one of the Lewis guns is mounted to the gunner's rear stand! Interestingly, it'd probably be a little faster than the Fokker E.III and Halberstadt D.II (and have a higher roll-rate than the Fokker Eindecker - which is kind-of hilarious).
