Kathy, thought you and the SRTC might find this interesting. I did.

Hi Sellier!

First of all, I want to thank you if you were one of the 1,000 who showed up yesterday to share your concerns about "ObamaCare" with Congresswoman Niki Tsongas.

If you were one of the fortunate ones to get into the gym, in spite of the unions trying to pack the place, CONGRATULATUIONS!
I observed a 3 - 1 split with US being in the majority. Others estimated it at 60% - 40%. Either way, we had a HUGE presence there, and talking to several of the 600 or so OUTSIDE, they figured the numbers even higher on our side...so as far as I am concerned, you ALL deserve a GREAT BIG thank you for coming, and for encouraging your friends and family to do so as well.

This is a response I sent to someone else who was there....I think it pretty much covers it!

"She is to be given credit for showing up, although the unions were there in force, and ARE really RUDE.

Niki called me behind the curtain to enlist me as an ally should the crowd become unruly...they were a little loud at times, but I don't blame them. She Really didn't give good answers to our folks even when the question was very simple...such as " If this plan is good enough for US, why did you vote to exempt yourself and other members of congress and federal employees from it".

We need to keep up the fight., and NEVER GIVE UP"

I wrote to another supporter last night the following:

"I too saw the double standard. What needs to be done next, are letters to the editor while the experience is fresh in your mind. I would also write to Niki, and thank her for having the courage to attend, and HOPEFULLY she had her eyes opened a little bit.

We all need to stay on this issue...they rely on the electorate getting tired of the fight, or giving up in futility. We must show them that we are NOT giving up, and we will work to stop this socialistic grab for 1/7 of our economy.

I spoke with the police who were on duty, and they estimated the crowd at 1000..~400 inside, and 600 outside. Each time our side had a standing o, I looked around and saw that 2/3 to 3/4 of the room was standing. Others observed the same. We have the people with us...we just need to stay focused, and not give...EVER!"

I am attaching a few articles that you may find interesting, and including some links to stories and video about our event.

1) the video from the Lowell Sun: Tsongas health care forum attracts overflow crowd

Video:
An overflow crowd which police estimated at about 1,000 people greeted U.S. Rep. Niki Tsongas's open forum in Chelmsford Saturday morning. The Town Hall gymnasium was closed after it reached it's capacity of 220.

3) an Article from the Herald...It has lots of comments!

I would encourage you to pass this on to everyone you know. They say that we are being organized by the GOP and by the Insurance Companies and Health Care organizations. I know that I AM NOT being paid by ANYONE....I care deeply about our country, and I am insulted by their assertions that WE THE PEOPLE cannot read and understand what they are trying to pass off as "REFORM"

We MUST not give up, get tired or go away, because if we do - THEY WIN AND WE LOSE THE GREATEST COUNTRY THAT HAS EVER EXISTED ON THIS PLANET!

I am committed to stay involved! Are you with me??

God Bless You and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Warmly,

Sandi Martinez
