I've had my account for quite some time now and it's been great. Today, when I tried to change some settings and my voicemail message, nothing appears on the voice.google.com site as it should; I have no "Phone" tab, but in my account settings, I still have the Google number. People can still call the number, but it doesn't ring to my phone anymore, nor does it send me my messages. To make matters worse, getting a hold of my personal phone voicemail isn't a viable option either, because it's attached to the Google voice number.

- My intent in going to to voice.google.com was to stop receiving transcripts and just have everything go straight to actual voicemail.
- Looking through Google's help sites, I was supposed to see different tabs and even different options in the "settings" menu than what I actually see.
- I have no "Phone" tab or anything that shows me my Google Number. This number is still displayed in my account though.
- I'm also unable to receive calls from my Google Number now.
- My current voicemail is set up through Google, which prevents me from listening to even my regular numbers voicemails.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you all.

Hi there.  I'm quite amazed that this group does not seem to be active.  Even though Google Voice is a neat product, their service stinks and is practically NON-EXISTENT.  I fear they might even discontinue Google Voice - I'm hearing rumors of such.  But I have my home phone through Google Voice and pay nothing except I did hook up with a company called CallCentric so I could have 911 service with my Google Voice phone and caller ID, but the caller ID with name is hit and miss.

Regarding your problem, can you get into your Google Voice account to make any changes?  Also, have you DOWNLOADED the Google Voice app to your cell phone (assuming you are also using your cell phone as one of your phones connected to Google Voice).   That might also be an option if you can DOWNLOAD the Google Voice app to your cell, you can at least CHANGE your voice mail setting back to use your CELL instead of Google Voice while you are investigating your problem.

Anyone else on this list at all - please just say HELLO at least.  It would sure be nice to get a Google Voice group going here that we can rely on for troubleshooting and such.

RGR, GV service downhill fast .. seldom get my calls direct ..
Contact page access wants me to buy a new computer / OS and same for
most of other Google services.

Worries me when it gets this bad some one is about to buy and strip
the companies.

Still trying to find the public iGoogle solution ..

On my cell phone, I use Google Voice exclusively. In fact, I don't even know what my actual cell # is nor do my friends, family, or co-workers.

I use the web interface to interact with texts and voicemails on my PC & Laptop.  I take and make calls with my computer headset if I'm working at my desk.  I also use the * feature to re-ring GV phones if I want to transfer the call to a different device.

Don't get me wrong.. It has its problems. On occasion I need to redial a number because it doesn't go through.  This happens maybe once every few weeks. I wish their transcripts were better but I still get the general idea of a message if I'm in a meeting or in a situation where I can't answer the call or listen to the message.

All in all, I _love_ GV.

I'm not sure how I'll handle it if they ever drop the service.

P.S. Everett:  Your iGoogle solution will likely come in the form of Google Now.

Couldn't agree more, LOVE GV, only people who know native cell are family. Use it largely as you do, Mark T.

That said, I have heard horror stories of it blowing up, as reported similarly to above by OP.

My only advice is to pay $50/yr to have a Google Apps for business account so as to be able to get someone on the phone; they'll often help w/ "unsupported" stuff like GV.

Good luck, all.

So, I appreciate the response first off. Second, a bit of an update: I finally managed to get a new number and everything is setup properly on the new number. I'm still unable to access the old number though, even though it shows up in my account as a number that I have.

Thank you again for the response.

So getting a new cell number is the only way? I believe somehow our numbers get blacklisted by Google and Google can no longer call our cell phone #. I managed to get a new Google Voice # and voice mail works fine, but my cell never rings when someone calls the Google #.

Hi there.  Do you have your Google Voice account set up under SETTINGS / Phone / Forward Calls To

to include your cell number?

And it still will not ring?
