Tracfone ZTE Valet with Google Voice app only work on WiFi not over cell network

Life is great on wifi and all features of Google Voice work (webpage, android app), but using cell network nothing works.  Google Voice app will queue sms messages, no Google applications (Google+, Hangouts, ....) will login, sync of Google apps (Calendar, Contacts, Browser, ....) fails.  Once I hook back into wifi everything works again.

I have background data enabled. I unchecked "use only Wifi for application updates".  Quite simply, I have toggled every Mobile data/Network setting on the phone and for the Google Voice mobile app itself in an attempt to see if I can get Google Voice to work on a cell network but no luck.

Is this a Tracfone limitation ?

Hi,

Found the solution:  I was only enabling the mobile data using the General Settings, but, there are two ways to disable/enable background data.  I discovered that for Google Voice the Restrict Background Data was indeed enabled.

1) Settings -> General Settings / Mobile Network Settings :  Data Enabled "Enable data access over mobile network" checkbox (should be checked)

2) Settings -> Wireless & Networks / Data Usage --> Mobile :  Underneath the graph is a listing of all the mobile apps.  You will see Google Voice, tap on it and then it will have the graph for Google Voice.  Scroll down and you will see the "Restrict Background Data - Disable background data on mobile networks.  Non-mobile networks will be used if available." checkbox.  Ensure that the checkbox is unchecked.

Now Google Voice is sending my text messages and no queuing is happening.

You should also review all the other apps to see if they are restricted or not.
