Touch screen support?

Is it likely that in the future Google TV will support being plugged in to touch screen monitors, using the monitor as an input device?

Not supported at the moment. It's up to the OEM manufacturers.

Many engineers have worked long and hard, and we've come a long ways from

you never know what exactly the future holds, but it is our believe that regular TV viewers appreciate the comfort and convenience of controlling their device remotely from their couch.

On the other hand, for "special applications" like information kiosks etc, i can totally see the value of a touchscreen. 

This is an area we are currently not targeting with Google TV, and we believe is better defined as a "very large screen" Android Device.

 

Remember, Google TV is intended primarily for the living room, to enhance the TV viewing experience by bringing together TV and the Internet.

Actually, instead of touchscreen does anyone know if there is any work being done on gesture based controls (ala kinect type detection)?

Yes the application I have in mind would be more of a shared kiosk and would benefit greatly from touch screen support. Hopefully an OEM will see value in this Google TV usage in the future.
