I wish to build a set of shapes.txt entries for a given bus route.
I've created a faithful "line" shape in Google Maps via its MyMaps
feature, with appropriate latitude and longitude coordinates. The
problem is that I cannot yet find a way to export these coordinates
from Google Maps, or otherwise obtain them.

Is there a way to access this data in full, by any means? I don't care
in what format, as long as the lat/lon coordinates are present and in
the correct sequence. I can massage the data into the expected format
for shapes.txt, but first I need to obtain it.

I've "exported" the MyMaps data as a Google Earth KML file, but when I
look inside this file, it consists of a single URL to Google Maps
rather than a set of coordinates. I do not know if it is possible to
obtain the line data from within Google Maps. Is it? If so, how would
I go about doing this?

Thanks for any assistance.

Hi Jubal,

This isn't currently "supported" (which means it could go away at any
time), but paste the url of the MyMap that you've created in your
browser and add &output=kml to the end of it. You'll get a KML file
with the coordinates of the route you're working on.
