why can't I have a side bar for one page of my google site but not the rest?

I've tried as many ways as I can think of to have my side bar come up with only one page and not for the rest i don't understand why I am not able to do this. I have come to the conclusion that there is in fact no way to have a side bar in only one section of my site. Is this true? Please help!
