Hi,

I'm new to Looker Studio and I'm trying to create a bar graph that shows me a break down of how many students received each grade (1-100) on the NYS State Regents Assessment.  If it's too much to do each individual grade, then I'll settle for above a 65 or below.  I have the data in a spreadsheet by student, exam taken and the grade they received on the exam.  It also includes information such as their grade level, the teacher who taught the class and the department of the exam (Science, Math, English, History).

Can anyone help guide me on how to create this report?  I'm really struggling on how to get the X and Y axis of the graph to show me the information I want.  Long term, I want to be able to filter the info by grade or teacher.

Thanks.

Kay

Here is an example. Let me know if this is what you are looking for.

Hi Kay! You should be able to accomplish this by setting up your bar graph as follows (assuming you have columns named Student, Grade Level, Score, Subject as columns in your source).

Dimension: Score
Metric: Record Count OR Count Distinct Student

If you wanted to add Grade or Subject as a Breakdown Dimension in your chart, you could do that as well, and make it a stacked bar, or not.

Sort by Score Ascending

You can then add filter controls for subject, grade, etc. You will probably want the subject filter to be single-select, unless you opted for Subject to be your Breakdown Dimension.

Hope that helps!

Laura

Hi,

It does help, thank you.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to fix this table. I want to see the passing rate for each exam broken down by grade.  Right now this chart shows the average grade.  I've created a pass rate filter, but can't seem to have it break down by grade.

Thoughts?
